This self-study online teacher certification course includes the 12-module core curriculum with interactive content, video tutorials, and tutor support, plus a grammar refresher course (Grammar Advisor) and two specialized endorsements: Teaching Business English and Teaching Young Learners. This course meets the hours required for most teaching jobs worldwide and online, making it a complete TEFL/TESOL package.

Requirement

- 18 years of age
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- If English is not your first language, you must have an intermediate or higher level of English proficiency (B1 level, according to the CEFR, the Common European Framework Reference for Language) which is a score of approximately 5.0 on the IELTS test.

Objective

- Identify the key elements of English grammar and plan grammar lessons with non-traditional instructional strategies, such as games and music
- Identify and differentiate current education strategies to design EFL/ESL lesson plans for a range of young learners and integrate the principles of first and second language acquisition pedagogy to teach young learners
- Identify and apply current adult language characteristics and educational theories to design lesson plans that meet Business English class goals and objectives

The Grammar Advisor component of your Master Certificate program is a 40-hour grammar refresher course, certification, and teaching resource all in one. It provides an overview of the English grammar terminology and structures you’ll need to know to effectively teach ESL/EFL, such as verb tenses, parts of speech, sentence structure, and more.

Each of the 13 self-study modules of Grammar Advisor includes reading, interactive activities, downloads, practice quizzes, and explainer videos to help you gain a deeper understanding of grammar in context.

For additional support, while you’re teaching, you can access Grammar Advisor for a full year, including the "Ask the Grammar Advisor" feature, through which you can submit your grammar questions to our team of experts and receive a personalized response.

The program is made up of four workshops, each focusing on teaching one of the four language skills.

Each workshop is accompanied by a trainer version with special notes and answer keys and a trainee workbook.
